Florida Workers Compensation
The state of Florida has a very comprehensive workers compensation guide that every injured worker should download or print out. It can be found here. On page 31 and 32 of that guide is a very useful flow chart that will help you understand how all the different entities are involved to make sure your claim is honored and benefits are received.
If you have further questions after reading that guide, please go to the FAQ page on the Florida Workers Comp. Website. The important thing is that you report your injury to your employer right away and make sure to follow any instructions they give you. Failure to exactly do what they say could result in your workers compensation claim being denied at some point.
Benefits For Missed Work
Besides paying for medical benefits, workers compensation may pay for some of your wages if you miss work due to your work related injury. For an explanation of all the benefits you might be eligible please go to this page.
A benefit calculator can be found here.
Did Insurance Deny Your Claim?
Not all workers comp. claims are accepted by the insurance companies. If this is the situation you find yourself in, you may want to contact the State of Florida for some unbiased help and direction. You can find the contact information for their office here. Unfortunately, if your claim is denied you might have to hire a lawyer to fight for your cause.
